Two years ago in the depleting shea forest near Zantiebougou, our team presented to a remote village, planting the first seeds of change.
Today in Koumantou, where the forest is thinning so fast that villagers must increasingly buy firewood, one of those seeds stood tall. Dialla, a successful village Sentinelle, now speaks before chiefs, mayors, and elders of a new area.
She tells them how the gua teliman cuts back deforestation, frees women’s time and saves their lungs from excessive smoke.
This is what resilience looks like: women gaining voice, villagers saving trees, and carbon finance making it all possible.
